establish legitimacy online

your website matters

The right website is an asset, helping position your business as trustworthy and legitimate.

Let's talk

Getting your website right means figuring out how to say what you need it to say in a way that resonates with visitors (and actually works).

It isn't just about making it look nice. It's making it look right - for your target audience. It's making it do all the right things to convey the emotions and feelings you want to convey, to give the impression you want to give, and inspire people to take the action you want them to take. It's about making all those things intentional rather than accidental.

Crafting a web design for your website is science as much as art, and at Thrive, we know how to balance the two to deliver supreme bang for your buck. We take your target audience, your business strengths and personality, and all the details that go into who you are and then design and build amazing websites that help take your business to the next level.

Frequently asked Questions

We've been doing this a long time, and are used to the questions. Here are the most common questions we encounter when it comes to websites.

How long does it take to build a website?

There are three (3) factors that determine how long it will take to complete your project:

  1. Scope of the work to be done.
  2. The availability of the team that is building it.
  3. How quickly the client can provide feedback and their availability for any necessary team meetings.

That being said, the websites that Thrive tend to work on will usually take 8-12 weeks including content creation, feedback rounds, and go live. More complex sites (such as e-commerce, membership sites, and similar) can take longer, often 12-24 weeks, but it is greatly dependent on the number of features & products.

When we give you a project quote, we will always include a time estimate along with the anticipated price.

How much will it cost to design a new website?

We must fully understand your business, your offer, your target audience, your goals, and what problems the project will solve before we know what needs to be done. This will dictate the final price. We believe that prescription without diagnosis is malpractice. Don't risk your investment with an organization that doesn't take the time to fully understand and explore your goals and help you define what success looks like for you. We understand that your website is just a part of the overall picture of your business ecosystem. We also understand that, if your ecosystem is missing a part or two, a new website won’t give you the results you are expecting. Because of this, we try to get a crystal clear understanding of what role your website is playing and what you need within that website to succeed. (These are things like copywriting, photos, lead generators, etc.) You can expect us to ask the following questions in our first conversation:
  • How are potential customers going to find you?
  • What do your visitors want to do/see/experience when they get to your website.
  • What will success look like to you after 6 months of this solution being implemented?
  • Are you selling products online? Are you scheduling appointments?
  • Will your users log in to access any part of your content/features?
  • Do you already have a logo and it is authentic to who you are and it is appealing to your target audience?
  • Any idea on how many web pages you need?
  • Are we replacing an existing site? Tell us about what is and isn't working on your existing site.
  • Who is writing the content?
  • Do you have photography that powerfully showcases your services, product, location, and/or team?
We ask a lot of questions to give us the best idea of what your website would cost to build. Anything else would be malpractice in our view.

What is your web design process?

Knowing what we are going to do (and in what order) before we do it is critical to your success. Take a look at our 7 step process (video) to get a deeper understanding of our process.

Lack of transparency around the process of building a website is a hallmark of an unorganized agency. Our goal is to have the best design and development process of any Seattle web design agency. In fact, we have created a nine-step blueprint that outlines our process from start to finish.

Why can’t I keep the website I have and just do a redesign?

There are two main reasons:

  • Technology continues to change over time, and usually that means that the way older websites were built is usually not going to be the "best" way to build a website today. More often than not, people coming to us for a new site have websites with serious fundamental flaws at their core. We refuse to start work on a flawed base as it will lead to a flawed end result, and that sacrifices on our professional integrity.
  • The way your website is built adds constraints and limitations on what is possible. By starting from scratch we can design what we know is going to work, confident that we can build anything we need, rather than limiting the design to something we know will work with your existing technology but may not deliver the outcomes we need it to. We won't do that.

But this doesn't mean your existing website is automatically bad or wrong. One of the first things we do with a potential client is assess whether they even need a new website. Sometimes, your current website is totally fine and just needs some updated content, or potentially some more marketing efforts. If that's the case, we let you know (in fact, we only end up working with about 10% of businesses that contact us).

Ultimately, our role is to guide our clients to the right solution for them, whether that solution includes Thrive or not.

Will my website be found on Google?

We have a marketing department dedicated to your SEO, SEM, and social media marketing needs. We work together with our SEO experts to ensure that the back end of your website is set up with SEO best practices in mind. Our SEO team is integrated into the web design process to ensure that your website is set up to capture traffic from start to finish.

We provide keyword research to get your title tags, meta descriptions, and headings visible to Google. Once your site is built, you can hire us for a monthly SEO retainer so that your website gets maximum exposure on Google.

Who will provide the content for my website?

Our web design services require you to provide the content for all the pages that we create for you. We do offer copywriting services for an additional fee that you can use to create your content. Our copywriters work closely with our designers and SEO experts to ensure that your content matches the look and feel of your website and is designed to attract traffic and convert customers.

Can you build me a website on a platform other than WordPress?

We exclusively build WordPress websites because we feel it’s the best platform for the majority of small- to medium-sized businesses.

  • Considering 43% of the web uses WordPress, meaning there are a lot of people out there who can help.
  • It is continually being updated and supported, so you are less likely to stuck with outdated or unsupported systems.
  • Extending functionality often doesn't require extensive custom development; there are many plugins that do the heavy lifting. This can cut development costs significantly compared with custom development.
  • It is easier to find team members and/or developers, who have experience working with WordPress sites. This includes us as a web agency, but also you as a client. Don't get tied to an agency because the website they build you is on a niche system that is hard to find help for - so you HAVE to rely on them, even if the relationship breaks down later.

Ultimately, that's why we like using WordPress: we know it really well, the interface is relatively easy to pick up for users, it's widely supported, and it offers a lot of flexibility both short and long term.

How much input will I have throughout the process?

We have designed our process to ensure that your voice is heard throughout. We start with a questionnaire and an in-depth meeting where we ask all kinds of questions to learn more about your business and goals, who your audience is, what you’re happy with and what you think could be improved, and what role you want your website to play in your marketing.

Once you become a client, there is a weekly touchpoint during your project and you'll review designs directly with our head designer. We have no junior staff: our team is not learning on the job.

We want you to be 300% happy with your project and have developed a process that minimizes your risks of getting something you don't want.

All of our strategy and design sessions are via web conferencing software and screen sharing.
